United Drug PLC12 September 2005 AN TANAISTE OPENS UNITED DRUG'S €50 MILLION NEW DISTRIBUTION FACILITY AT MAGNA PARK An Tanaiste and Minister for Health and Children, Ms. Mary Harney T.D. thismorning (Monday, 12th September 2005) Officially Opened United Drug's €50million new distribution facility at Magna Park in the Citywest Business Park. United Drug is a leading healthcare services provider to pharmaceuticalretailers and manufacturers in Ireland and the UK. The 15 acre site includesstate-of-the-art order processing and assembly systems, which distribute inexcess of 200,000 order lines per week to over 500 pharmacies on a twice dailybasis, on behalf of over 200 national and international pharma, veterinary,medical & scientific, consumer health and health & beauty companies. The new facility, employs over 500 people making United Drug one of the largestindividual employers in the west Dublin area. Speaking this morning, Ms. Mary Harney T.D., Tanaiste and Minister for Healthand Children, said: "It is important that we get value for money in every aspect of the health services and particularly in relation to drugs and medicines. Ensuring the most modern supply chain management is essential for achieving that objective and therefore I welcome the development of this new distribution facility." Addressing guests, United Drug's Chief Executive, Liam FitzGerald, said: "Our investment in best-in-class technology and in facilities, systems, procedures and people as represented by this development, is testament to the importance of the premium we place on quality, safety and efficiency in the healthcare supply chain. Distributors and wholesalers of healthcare products represent the vital link in the delivery of a safe and efficient healthcare supply chain ensuring critical products are available to patients when and where they need them". Phase I of Magna Park was completed in 2001 and Phase II was completed in June2005. The total facility includes 285,000 sq. ft. of custom-built warehousespace and 85,000 sq. ft. of office space. In addition to catering for thePharma Wholesale division of the business, the facility also provides for therequirements of the Company's three other key business divisions: ContractDistribution; Contract Sales Outsourcing; and Medical & Scientific.
