Globo plc ("Globo"; LSE-AIM: GBO; www.globoplc.com), a leader in the Information and Communications Technology market in Greece and a SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions provider, is pleased to announce significant additions to its order book.
During recent months Globo has signed a number of new public and private sector contracts with organisations including the General Secretariat for Youth, Athens University of Political & Social Science (Panteios), Velti plc, Botsis Foundation, the Municipal Centre for Historical Research and Documentation of Volos, Athens University of Economics and Business, University of Ioannina and the Prefecture of Lesvos. These contracts have an aggregate value of approximately €0.8 million which is expected to be delivered during 2008. These contracts cover the range of Globo's traditional products and services.
Globo is also pleased to announce new public and private sector contracts which are expected to be completed during the course of 2009 totalling €3.5 million. This includes a number of new orders totalling €1.7 million, the larger ones being awarded by the Ministry of Environment, Intracom S.A. and the National Statistics Bureau and a newly signed €1.8 million contract with the Information Society S.A.
The Information Society S.A. is a state owned commercial organisation which has contracted Globo, in partnership with PC Systems S.A., to install 160 public WiFi hotspots allowing free wireless internet access by members of the public through broadband infrastructure. These hotspots will be set up in central squares, railway stations, harbours and airports throughout Greece. Globo will provide a specialised software platform for user's access control, security, network management and the extraction of statistical reports on the use of wireless internet access by users of the hotspots. The contract with the Information Society S.A. has a total value of €3.7 million, of which Globo's share is €1.8 million. Following completion of the network of public hotspots, Globo expects to sign an ongoing contract for support services.
Costis Papadimitrakopoulos, Managing Director, commented:
"We are pleased to be able to report a sustained momentum in securing new orders, underpinning our expectations for the current year and building our forward order book for 2009.
"The public hotspots project is particularly exciting for Globo. It is the biggest project undertaken so far in Greece in extending wireless broadband internet access to the general public. This project demonstrates Globo's technology leadership in the area of Wi-Fi networks and helps further expand our footprint of hotspots which currently counts more than 350 Globo-owned WiPlus hotspots and more than 70 owned by customers running on our technology across 5 European countries. Globo is a provider of highly reliable solutions in the field of broadband wireless internet, operating in several markets and countries. Our technology and market approach, on wireless and mobile broadband solutions, is continuously growing with new markets, synergies and products which are focused on providing ubiquitous computing for businesses and individuals. Our aim is to fully leverage our hotspots network infrastructure with new products and services (such as CitronGO!) in order to provide the S.a.a.S experience on all mobile devices.
