Narrow Water Bridge project win |
Proposed finalised design for Narrow Water Bridge
Flowtech has successfully secured a new prestigious €4.5 million contract on the Narrow Water Bridge. The iconic project will feature a 195-metre cable-stayed and moveable span bascule bridge construction to allow maritime access to the Newry Canal. This key piece of infrastructure is also designed to accommodate vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians, connecting Cornamucklagh near Omeath, Co. Louth with Narrow Water near Warrenpoint, Co. Down, thereby creating an important link between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and symbolising co-operation and connection between communities.
The Bridge is set to commence construction in Q3 2025 and will take 24 months to complete. Flowtech will support the Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation (MEICA) elements, as well as any Hydraulic needs identified during the project.
Flowtech is proud to be collaborating with a range of partners on the construction team including Louth County Council, Roughan & O'Donovan, H&H, Demako BV, BAM UK & Ireland and Aelterman BV. Funding for the project is through the Government's Shared Island Fund. The interest and support from Taoiseach Micheál Martin and Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD also emphasises how important and transformative the finished project will be for the area in the future.
