MAJOR ORDER FOR NEW ST PANCRAS DEVELOPMENT
Michelmersh Brick Holdings plc (AIM: MBH), the specialist brick, land development and landfill company has received an order for the supply of over 230,000 bricks for use in the redevelopment of St Pancras Chambers, the building fronting St Pancras Station in London.
The £100 million project is being undertaken by St Pancras Chambers Investments, a part of the Manhattan Loft Corporation, with Galliford Try as the main contractor. It involves the restoration of St Pancras Chambers to create 67 residential apartments, a £10 million penthouse and a 244-bedroom five-star hotel.
The Grade I listed chambers were built between 1868 and 1876 as a "Gothic revival" styled hotel, known as the Midland Grand. The project is due for completion by the end of next year (2010).
Michelmersh has been involved throughout the three year restoration of Grade 1 listed St Pancras Station. The Company has already supplied over 500,000 bricks for the refurbishment of the award winning project. The brick successfully matched the colour, texture and size of the existing and has won many awards.
Martin Warner, Chief Executive of Michelmersh said: "It is pleasing to note that even in these difficult economic times, there is demand for our unique product offering."
