New Commission

Independent TV producer and distributor DCD Media is pleased to announce that its production subsidiary, Rize Television Ltd (trading under Rize USA), has won a major CBBC commission for a unique new 10x30' singing contest Got What It Takes?

Presented by X Factor contestant Lauren Platt and series produced by Hayden King, the show features mothers and their talented 11-14 year old children as they undertake challenges against one another in an Apprentice-style musical boot-camp, each one hoping to be crowned the star of the show and be given an amazing performance opportunity, courtesy of the BBC.

Timeweave Limited, one of DCD Media's largest shareholders, is providing Rize USA with a short term £0.1m secured loan to help fund the production and recoverable VAT, to be repaid by 30 June 2016. Under the terms of the loan, Rize USA expects to pay Timeweave a total of £7,000 for interest, arrangement fee and costs. The Independent Director, Nicky Davies Williams, considers, having consulted finnCap as nominated adviser to the Group, that the terms of the transaction are fair and reasonable insofar as its shareholders are concerned.

Got What it Takes? is an adaptation of the Romanian format Mom Made me a Star, which was created by Media Factory for Prima TV and is distributed internationally by Small World IFT. The series was commissioned by Cheryl Taylor, Controller CBBC, and is Executive Produced for the BBC by Melissa Hardinge.

Sheldon Lazarus, Creative Director of Rize USA today commented: "The series promises to offer an intriguing new spin on the talent-contest genre, allowing an audience to see first-hand the pitfalls laid out for young people chasing stardom, questioning whether it is what they really want after all."

DCD Media's CEO David Craven also added: "Got What it Takes? is the only talent show to be produced which reveals a true portrait of the nature of fame, whilst at the same time helping these young people attain their dreams. We are delighted Rize USA has cemented its position as a versatile producer of high quality entertainment and reality programming and we are sure this will be an enduring hit for BBC Children's television."
