New Chairman
Thomas Cook Group today announces that its Non-Executive Chairman, Dr. Thomas Middelhoff, will stand down from the Board with immediate effect.
Dr. Thomas Middelhoff is succeeded as Chairman by Dr. Karl-Gerhard Eick (54) who joined the Thomas Cook Board in December 2008 as an Arcandor AG nominated Non-Executive Director.
Dr. Eick succeeded Thomas Middelhoff as CEO and Chairman of Arcandor AG on 1 March 2009. He was previously Chief Financial Officer of Deutsche Telekom AG from 2000 to 2009, being Deputy Chairman of the Board from 2004. Prior to his career at Deutsche Telekom he held various positions for BMW AG in Munich and senior finance positions at: WMF AG in Geislingen; Carl Zeiss group, Oberkochen; and Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH. in Duisburg. Dr. Eick has been a Non-Executive Director of Deutsche Bank AG since 2004. Between 2008 and 2009, he was a Non-Executive Director of OTE, Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A. He was also a Non-Executive Director of T-Online International AG between 2000 and 2006 and T-Mobile International AG between 2000 and 2009.
The Board of Thomas Cook Group welcomes Dr. Eick to the position of Non-Executive Chairman of the Board and would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Thomas Middelhoff for his vision, enthusiasm and contribution over the last two years.

Arcandor owns 52.8% of the shares in issue in Thomas Cook Group plc. Pursuant to a Relationship Agreement entered into between the two companies in June 2007, Arcandor has the right to appoint two non-executive Directors to the Board of Thomas Cook Group plc, one of whom shall be Chairman of the Company.
