MFI Furniture Group PLC20 July 2006 20 July 2006 MFI FURNITURE GROUP Plc APPOINTS NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND CHAIRMAN-DESIGNATE MFI Furniture Group Plc announces the appointment of Will Samuel as aNon-executive Director with immediate effect and as Chairman-designate. As previously announced, having served as Chairman for six years and inaccordance with corporate governance best practice, Ian Peacock will retireduring the current year once a successor has been established in place. It isexpected that he will step down during the next few months following a shorttransition period. From 2003 until 2004, Will Samuel, a Chartered Accountant, was Vice Chairman,European Investment Bank, of Citigroup Inc. From 2000 to 2003 he was Co-ChiefExecutive Officer at Schroders Salomon Smith Barney (a division of CitigroupInc.). Prior to this he was a Director of Schroders plc, the investment bankinggroup, which was acquired by Citigroup Inc. in 2000. Mr. Samuel is a Vice Chairman of Lazard & Co., Ltd. He is Deputy Chairman ofInchcape plc, and is a Non-Executive Director of the Edinburgh Investment Trustplc and of Ecclesiastical Insurance group plc. Will Samuel is the brother of Lesley Knox, a current non-executive on the boardof MFI. She has indicated her intention to retire from the board, havingcompleted almost 6 years in office, and will step down as soon as her successorhas been appointed.
