New 18MW Bio-Power plant comes online
Renewable Energy Generation Limited ("REG") (AIM: WIND), the renewable energy group, announces that its 18MW Bio-Power project at Whitemoor in Yorkshire has successfully completed its commissioning programme and is now available to generate power under the National Grid's Short Term Operating Reserve ("STOR") service. The plant will receive availability payments for standing by during specified periods and utilisation payments when supplying power to National Grid to meet unscheduled generation needs or demand. The project, REG's largest capacity plant powered by its patented bio-liquid LF100, has been constructed by Finning who will also operate it under a long term operations and maintenance contract.
Andrew Whalley, Chief Executive Officer said:
"The addition of Whitemoor into our fleet of projects powered by our patented bio-liquid is significant. Not only does it increase REG Bio-Power's operational output to 26MW but is also the first successfully built and commissioned project of its type in the UK.
"Our fleet is well-equipped to meet the demands of the STOR service and we aim to deploy further state-of-the-art rapid response generation plant to help address the UK's current capacity shortage."
