Nektan to operate The Sun's new mobile games
Nektan, the international B2B mobile gaming platform provider, is delighted to announce that it has signed a contract with News UK to create and operate Sun Play, an innovative new gaming product for The Sun newspaper in the UK, due to launch later this year.
Sun Play, powered by Nektan's market-leading mobile gaming platform, Evolve, will combine free-to-play skill games alongside a suite of real money games that are designed to be played on the go by the readers of The Sun newspaper's print and online formats.
Sun Play has been developed specifically around the growing entertainment needs of online players who are graduating from virtual currency games to real money gaming across smartphone and tablet. Sun Play will entertain and reward players with compelling games and innovative content that builds on the engaging content and heritage of the title, as well as the chance to win prizes and real money.
Over the past 24 months, Nektan has invested heavily in its Evolve gaming platform and proprietary games to create a best-in-class white label mobile gaming product. The Evolve platform can be customised to suit the specific needs of Nektan's partners to deliver unique gaming experiences on smartphone, tablet and online.
Under the terms of the agreement, Nektan will retain a share of the net revenue generated by Sun Play, and is likely to have a significant impact on the Company's trading in calendar year 2015.
Gary Shaw, Nektan's Executive Chairman, said: "I am delighted that News UK has chosen Nektan as its partner following a rigorous selection process and this reflects the quality of our market-leading mobile gaming platform and best-in-class B2B offer. We are looking forward to working closely with the team at The Sun to bring the exciting new Sun Play mobile games to millions of Sun readers. This is a significant development for the Company."
Neil Martin, News UK's Business Development Director, said: "Having carefully evaluated the market, Nektan were the stand-out partner for News UK to power Sun Play. We are very excited to be working together to deliver the most enjoyable gaming experience to seven million print and online readers daily. Entertaining our customers across different points of their media day is a key focus for our business. "
