NCSP Operating Results for January-February 2009

Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port (LSE: NCSP, RTS and MICEX: NMTP) announces consolidated operating results for January-February 2009. Cargo turnover of the Group totaled 13,741 thousand tones, which by 1,671 thousand tonnes exceeds the turnover of the same period last year.

Grain handling volumes in January-February 2009 have grown by 140% over the same period in 2008 totaling 1,155 thousand tonnes. At the same time grain handling in February 2009 reached 718 thousand tones, which exceeds January volumes by 64%.

Crude oil and oil products volumes keep growing in the reporting period by 1,011 thousand tonnes (15.6%) and by 535 thousand tonnes (32%) respectively. Among oil products diesel fuel showed the fastest growth rate of 46% against same period last year, mostly due to the new 1 mln. tonnes handling capacity launched in October 2008.

NCSP continued to increase volumes of pig iron, as well as iron ore and ore concentrate. In the reporting period handling of pig iron reached 84.5 thousand tonnes, iron ore and ore concentrate - 439 thousand tonnes, which is many times over the volumes of the same period last year. At the same time in February 2009 pig iron volumes increased by 81% compared to January this year.

Non-ferrous metals handling in January-February 2009 totaled 173 thousand tones, which is 3% up from same period last year - February volumes increased by 21.3% against January 2009.

Perishable goods and seed oils in the reporting period have increased by 20.8 thousand tonnes (231.1%) and 18.9 thousand tonnes (69.5%) respectively in comparison to January-February 2008.

Ferrous metals volumes in January-February decreased by 311.8 thousand tonnes or 20.1% against same period last year, while showing 62.2 thousand tonnes or 10.5% increase in February against January 2009.

Overall container traffic dropped by 17.8 thousand TEU or 33.1% against same period last year. Baltic Stevedoring Company in Kaliningrad region experiences the sharpest drop in volumes as its container traffic mostly depends on the performance of the automotive manufacturers in the region. Container traffic at the Group's terminals in Novorossiysk decreased only by 4.5 thousand TEU or 11% in the reporting period.

Volumes of other cargo including timber, UAN liquid fertilizer, cement, dry mineral fertilizers, and scrap metal have also shown negative dynamics in January-February 2009 compared to same period last year; the decrease in volumes totaled 279.4 thousand tonnes.
