Babcock International Group PLC25 October 2006 25 October 2006 BABCOCK INTERNATIONAL GROUP PLC Preferred Bidder Award for National Grid Alliancing Contract Babcock International Group PLC ("Babcock"), the support services company,announces that its Networks business, in partnership with AMEC plc and MottMcDonald Ltd has been appointed preferred bidder by National Grid for the WestOverhead Line and Cable Alliance. The award is for the delivery of National Grid's capital works programme foroverhead transmission lines and cable works in the West of England andthroughout Wales. Babcock has extensive experience in alliance partnering, andthrough Eve - its power transmission division - it has recognised expertise inthe field of overhead transmission line design and engineering. The contract, worth around £100m a year to the Alliance for an initial period offive years, renewable for a further five years, is expected to be awarded inJanuary 2007.
