Motive Television wins Irish Film and Television Award

London: 13 February 2012 -- Motive Television PLC, the digital television technology, software and services provider, is delighted to announce that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Motive Television Limited, has been awarded an IFTA (Irish Film and Television Award) at Saturday's 2012 IFTA's ceremony in Dublin.

The award is for Best Sports Documentary for "Eamonn Coghlan: Man on a Mission". The one-off programme follows World Athlete of the Year David Rudisha and his coach Brother Colm O'Connell. The programme was filmed entirely in Iten, Kenya, as Rudisha prepared for the World Championships in South Korea, which he won.

The scope of the programme further widens to explore why Kenya has dominated the running world for so long and the lasting legacy Brother Colm has left on Kenyan running. Produced by Jamie d'Alton and Anne McLoughlin, the programme is presented by Irish athletics legend Eamonn Coghlan and directed by award winning documentary maker Maurice Sweeney.

This is Motive's third IFTA, having previously won IFTAs for sports documentaries "Marooned" and "the Sound of Sunday".

Michael Pilsworth, Chairman of Motive Television plc, said: "This award recognises the talent of our production team, Anne McLoughlin and Jamie d'Alton, and also of director Maurice Sweeney, with whom we have worked for some years, and whose skilled direction has garnered three IFTAs for Motive. Thanks also to Eamonn Coghlan, whose enthusiasm and interest in the subject brought this fascinating story to life."
