Modern Water launches new immunoassay strip test

MODERN WATER MONITORING LAUNCHES NEW IMMUNOASSAY STRIP TEST AND READERS

Modern Water plc (AIM:MWG), the owner of leading water technologies for the production of fresh water and monitoring of water quality, announces today the launch of a new range of immunoassay environmental monitoring strip (lateral flow) tests. The Group has also launched a portable, automated hand-held QuickChek™ reader to accompany its new range of strip tests.

The new range, which delivers immediate, accurate results, is completely disposable and self-contained. The removal of the need for pre-treatment or dilution of samples has meant that there are no special hazardous waste disposal limitations.

The first new product in the range, the QuickChek™ SRB, detects the enzyme adenosine-5'-phosphosulphonate (APS) which is common in all strains of sulphate reducing bacteria (SRB). These anaerobic bacteria can cause corrosion problems in steel and concrete pipelines or 'souring' of natural gas or crude oil. This new rapid test will allow operators and laboratories to get results in minutes rather than the days taken for traditional growth media methods.

The new QuickChek™ Reader is an extremely flexible device which is capable of performing qualitative and quantitative assays. With the ability to analyse assays in a matter of seconds, it stores up to 10,000 exportable results on the device. The QuickChek™ Reader removes operator subjectivity, allowing more accurate results, with lower detection levels.

The QuickChek™ SRB strip kit and the QuickChek™ Reader will both be on display and demonstrated at the IFAT Ensorga exhibition in Munich between 2-5 May on the Modern Water stand, number 111/210.
