Atkins (WS) PLC23 November 2005 NEWS RELEASE 23 November 2005 Atkins consortium wins MOD's housing prime contract Professional services group WS Atkins plc today announces that a new jointventure consortium comprising Atkins (25%), Carillion (50%) and Enterprise (25%)has been awarded a seven-year, £690 million contract to maintain and upgradeMinistry of Defence family accommodation. MODern Housing Solutions (MHS) will be responsible for the maintenance of Service Families' Accommodation (SFA) and facilities management services of around 45,000 properties in England and Wales. The contract is worth around £25m per annum to Atkins over the next seven yearsand may be extended for up to three years. It does not include Scotland, nor MODfamily accommodation provided under PFI. MHS will provide reactive, planned preventative and life cycle maintenance offamily houses and apartments, including incidental new works and largerrefurbishment projects. This contract will put the maintenance of theseproperties on a whole life planning basis, introducing common standards acrossthe country. Management of the maintenance work will be supported by a dedicated,state-of-the-art Information Management System linked to a 24 hour help desk. Atkins will be responsible for providing expert asset management services,including life cycle planning, cost and risk management, and design.
