Petards Group PLC23 October 2007 Petards Group plc ("Petards" or "the Company") Contract award Petards, the AIM listed developer of advanced surveillance systems, announcesthat Petards Joyce-Loebl has been awarded a major contract by the Ministry ofDefence. The contract, worth over £1m, is for the supply of airborne chaff and flaredispensing equipment which will form part of an integrated defensive aids suiteto be installed on rotary wing aircraft. Deliveries are expected to commence inearly 2008 and should be completed by the end of that year. The defensive aidssuite is designed to protect the aircraft from a range of ground launchedmissiles including shoulder-launched man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS)that are in widespread use throughout the world. This is the latest in a series of contract awards received over recent yearsthat have seen the equipment supplied for use on a wide variety of the UK'saircraft including the RAF's C-130 J and K transport aircraft, Merlin Mk.3,Chinook Mk.2, and Puma helicopters, the Royal Navy's Sea King Mk.4 and Lynxhelicopters, and the British Army's Lynx Mk.9 helicopters.
