Court of Appeal rules in Kenmare’s favour on damages in Libel Case
Kenmare Resources plc (LSE:KMR, ISE:KMR), one of the leading global producers of titanium minerals and zircon, is pleased to announce that the Court of Appeal has today ruled that the High Court jury award of damages, made in favour of its former director Mr Donal Kinsella in November 2010, be substantially reduced from €10,000,000 to €250,000.
The High Court in 2010 granted a stay on the award, subject to the payment of €500,000 and an agreed contribution towards costs, pending final determination of the appeal.
Kenmare would like to thank the Court of Appeal for the time it has taken in hearing and considering this long-running case. The case has been put back for three weeks to allow the parties to consider the judgment. Applications in respect of costs and any other orders required will be made at that time. Kenmare will consider the implications of the Court's decision with its legal team in the coming days.
