Mining Commences at La Parrilla with First Mine Blast
W Resources Plc (AIM:WRES), the tungsten, copper and gold exploration and development company with assets in Spain and Portugal, is pleased to announce that hard rock mining at its La Parrilla Tungsten project in Spain started yesterday with the first blast at the mine shot successfully at 14.00 CET.
The explosive blast covered the first two 10 metre benches in the Fast Track Mine area and open up directly accessible ore to the mine operation.
RC drilling of 20 holes on the South and North lateral extensions of the pit have been completed and sample preparation for assays is now underway at the new La Parrilla lab facilities. Visual geological estimation under UV light of the t grid of RC holes and mine blast holes has added significant additional definition to the target mining area.
Michael Masterman, Chairman of W Resources said: "The first mine blast at La Parrilla is a significant event for W Resources and kicks off the commencement of hard rock mining operations. The explosive blast was completed successfully with the highest level of safety and supervision. Preparation for blasting with RC drilling and blast hole drilling has reconfirmed our high level of confidence with regard to a large lateral extension of the La Parrilla ore body to the South at potentially higher grades, based on site analysis with an XRF"
The next steps involve completion of grade control assays and mine planning and mine ore preparation. Process plant upgrades are planned to commence in September with concentrate production remaining on track for Q4 2016.

The site has exceptional infrastructure in place, which is accessed directly from the highway along a 3 km asphalt road and is serviced by electricity and water. The project comprises a tungsten mine and a tungsten tailings project. The mineral resource estimated by Golder in February 2016 at 0.04% WO3 cut-off grade is 51 million tonnes at 0.096% WO3 and 0.108 Sn, making it one of the largest tungsten deposits in the western world.
