In addition to the generator, Aggreko will providetraining classes for the instructors at the LTC - Gulf Area Campus inAbbeville, Louisiana. The generator, along with the instruction, willprovide students with the ability to learn a new trade while gaininghands-on experience. £ Mike Moreau, Lead Technician at Aggreko, stated, "We are providingthe generator and training to the school to further enhance students'learning experience. This will provide the opportunity for students tolearn to troubleshoot generator issues and will help them to receivecomplete hands-on training." £ The mission of the Diesel Powered Equipment and Technology Programis to provide specialized classroom instruction and practical shopexperience to prepare individuals for employment as job entry-leveldiesel powered equipment technicians. The program prepares theindividual to select, safely use, and maintain hand and power tools,jacks, and hoisting equipment. The content includes disassemblingengines and replacing parts, fuel injection systems, oil and waterpumps, electrical systems, steering and suspension systems, brakesystems, drive train, and chassis. Instruction also includes the useof technical manuals, preventive maintenance procedures, and safe andefficient work practices. £ Keith Sherman, instructor at LTC - Gulf Area Campus, attended oneof the generator-based training classes at the Aggreko training centerin Pearland, Texas. Both Ms. Lee and Mr. Shermanemphasized the need for qualified and trained diesel and poweredequipment technicians especially since the dual blows of HurricanesKatrina and Rita. £ In addition to providing training for the Gulf Area Dieselstudents, the students enrolled in the Electrician program will alsobenefit from this training and hands-on experience.
