MHRA Authorisation of the Voke Inhaler

Consort Medical plc ("Consort Medical") (LSE: CSRT), is delighted to announce that the Voke Inhaler, the subject of Bespak's development programme DEV200, has been granted Marketing Authorisation by the MHRA.

Voke is a nicotine inhalation device developed by Kind Consumer ("Kind") and is to be commercialised by Nicoventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of British American Tobacco plc. This follows Bespak's involvement in the successful clinical trial for the medicinal product in 2012, the subsequent industrialisation programme, the award to Bespak of a supply contract from Nicoventures, and the granting of an MIA (Manufacturer's / Importer's Authorisation) by the MHRA in August 2013 licensing Bespak to conduct commercial drug handling.

The authorisation is a significant milestone towards market launch and our experienced team are now focused on delivery of the product."

Kind will now be pursuing a variation of the Marketing Authorisation representing a further evolution of the technology for commercialisation by Nicoventures. This variation will be submitted shortly to the MHRA. It is intended to incorporate these product refinements into a further version of the product, the launch date of which will follow subsequent MHRA authorisation.

Production facilities to support product launch are already in place at the Bespak King's Lynn facility. Construction of the expanded facilities to support the full contracted volumes is well advanced. The refurbishment of Bespak Milton Keynes is now complete, and installation of the component moulding equipment is underway. At King's Lynn, the build phase of the new assembly facility is nearing completion.
