MayAir wins inaugural Bluetech Award from Clean Air Alliance of China

MayAir Group plc (AIM: MAYA.L), a leading provider of air filtration and clean air technology in the industrial, commercial and residential markets, is pleased to announce that it has received the inaugural Bluetech Award for its patented double-stage filtration system to improve indoor air quality in industrial and commercial buildings from the Clean Air Alliance of China (CAAC), a collaboration of academic institutions and public, private and non-profit organisations dedicated to improving air quality in China.

Mr Yap Wee Keong, Chief Executive Officer of MayAir, said: "We are honoured to have been granted the inaugural Bluetech Award from the Clean Air Alliance of China, which is testament to the strength of our technology and its global competitiveness. It is particularly timely given recent well-publicised events in Beijing and at COP 21 in Paris."

Launched by the CAAC this year, the Bluetech Award recognises the best international air pollution prevention and control technologies, with this year's focus being on diesel engine pollution control; VOC substitution, prevention and control; straw recycling and indoor air purification. MayAir was awarded the accolade based on an assessment of its technology that examined performance and test results to look for breakthrough potential in terms of environmental impact, technical performance and financial viability. The Group was one of five recipients of the award, who were selected from 56 applicants from across the US, Australia, EU, Southeast Asia and mainland China.

MayAir's solution combines an electrostatic air filter and media air filter that can trap over 90% of airborne particulates that are smaller than 2.5 micrometres (PM2.5). Installed in buildings' air handling units, the technology is energy-efficient and cost-effective, with low ozone emission.

"We are delighted by the substantial commitments secured at COP 21 with measures being taken by many countries, including China," Mr Yap continued. "Against this backdrop, the requirement for our technology and solutions - which provide clean indoor air for Chinese factories, airports, metro stations, commercial buildings and even residential premises - is clear, and MayAir will continue to work relentlessly to offer best-in-class products for addressing these major challenges."
