Tricor PLC
Joining of Markit Environmental Registry
The Company is pleased to announce that it has joined the Markit Environmental Registry.
Markit, a leading global financial information services company, supports globally recognised standards in the voluntary environmental markets.
Tricor's existing focus on its projects that come under the Clean Development Mechanism of the Kyoto Protocols enables Tricor to target the management of high-growth emissions registries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and the Indian sub-Continent.
Markit's Environmental Registry is already being successfully used by clients globally, including in many developing countries.
Tricor will focus business development capacity in the territories that require national carbon emissions registries to be established and efficiently managed. Tricor is initiating its activities in these countries during the course of 2010 and envisages significant synergistic revenue growth between these newly established registries and its planned organic growth.
Lawrence van Kampen-Brooks, CEO and MD of Tricor PLC said, "Working with Markit, with a long term view, on developing the potential benefits that Tricor feels can be delivered via national emissions schemes in developing countries increases stakeholder value. Markit's enormous strength in the financial markets and its far-sighted investments in the Environmental infrastructure space dovetail, in commercial and practical terms, with Tricor's strategy of delivering Supply Side Access both to carbon asset owners and emissions market participants."
Tricor plans to explore potential opportunities with Markit through the course of Q2 of 2010.
