Sainsbury(J) PLC02 May 2006 2nd May 2006 NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR SAINSBURY'S BANK J Sainsbury plc has appointed Rob Walker (53) as chief executive officer forSainsbury's Bank. Rob joins the company on 2nd May from HSBC Bank Plc where he worked for 31years, most recently as general manager and head of credit & risk. He willreport to Darren Shapland, chief financial officer, who has taken on operatingboard responsibility for Sainsbury's Bank. Darren Shapland said: "We are delighted to have secured somebody of Rob'scalibre. His strong knowledge of the UK market, extensive banking experienceand track record will be great assets as the Bank continues to grow and webelieve he has the proven skills needed to take the Bank to the next level." Rob Walker said: "This role presents me with an exciting new opportunity. Iwill be joining Sainsbury's at a challenging time for the retail bankingindustry and Sainsbury's Bank in particular has had a difficult 12 months.
