List of shareholders as at 1 January 2009
Joint Stock Company "Halyk Savings Bank of Kazakhstan" ("Halyk Bank") (LSE: HSBK) hereby publishes the list of its shareholders holding not less than 5% of total shares issued as at 1 January 2009.
In accordance with the register provided by JSC Fondoviy Centre, Halyk Bank's registrar in Kazakhstan, as at 1 January 2009:
the total number of authorized common shares (National Identification Number KZ1C33870011) of Halyk Bank was 1,129,016,660 of which 984,016,660 shares were issued, 3,996,613 were held in treasury stock;
the total number of preferred shares (National Identification Number KZ1P33870117) was 24,742,000, fully issued and outstanding;
the total number of preferred shares (National Identification Number KZ1P33870216) was 80,225,222, fully issued and outstanding.

Please note that the increase of the total number of Halyk Bank's authorized common and preferred shares, approved at the Extraordinary General Shareholders' Meeting ("EGM") held on 19 December 2008 (see our press release dd. 24 December 2008 for results of the EGM), will be reflected in the shareholders register after the registration of the amendments to the share issue prospectus with the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market and Financial Organizations.
