ViewSonic launches 3D monitor with DDD's TriDef®3D technology

Los Angeles, California: DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD), the 3D solutions company, has licensed its TriDef®3D software to ViewSonic Corp to ship with its latest 3D LED monitor, the 23'' V3D231.

The TriDef 3D software will be supplied with the V3D231 23" monitor to deliver 3D viewing using simple, lightweight polarized glasses, making it both cost-effective and convenient.

DDD's TriDef 3D automatically converts DVD movies, PC media and photo files from 2D to 3D. It also allows over 500 of the latest PC games that have not been specifically developed for 3D to be played in stereoscopic 3D "off the shelf", and is available in 37 languages.

Bonny Cheng, general manager of LCDs and consumer electronics, ViewSonic, said:

"3D displays are poised for tremendous growth. With our 20+ year display heritage, ViewSonic monitors are the finest choice to enjoy an incredible 3D world. They can be leveraged for diverse applications across industries, from healthcare and manufacturing to education and entertainment."

The TriDef 3D 2D-to-3D game conversion engine is compatible with games that run on the DirectX 9, 10 and 11 application programming interfaces. Its unique high-performance stereoscopic 3D render mode enables 3D gaming on ViewSonic's 3D LED monitors with no significant compromise in performance, and is compatible with PC graphics processors from both AMD, nVIDIA and Intel's 2nd Gen Core processors.

ViewSonic's 23" V3D231 3D monitor delivers a truly immersive 2D and 3D visual experience for entertainment and gaming. With the leading 3D display technology, the monitor features low-power, LED-backlit panels, full HD 1920x1080 resolution and ClearMotiv™ II technology with ultrafast 2ms response time that present clear, fluid images that do not blur.

To ensure plenty of content for 3D viewing, ViewSonic also includes a selection of original, high definition 3D programming available from Yabazam.com, DDD's 3D entertainment portal.

DDD will receive quarterly royalty revenues from ViewSonic based on the volume of 3D monitors shipped. The monitors started shipping in early August.

Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD, said:

"DDD has experienced strong demand for the TriDef 3D PC solution. The selection by ViewSonic as content solution provider for its growing range of 3D monitors is another important milestone for us, that further reinforces our position as a market-leading 3D content solution for the PC market."
