CPH2 Activates First Licenced Manufacturing Partnership with Hidrigin
Highlights:
· First licence package submitted, enabling Hidrigin and Jones Engineering to begin manufacturing preparations for MFE220 electrolysers in Ireland
· Hidrigin expects construction of the units to begin in Q4 2025, with first electrolysers ready for deployment in 2026
· Major milestone in CPH2's commercialisation stage, advancing its capital-light licensing model
CPH2, the UK-based green hydrogen technology and manufacturing company that has developed the IP-protected Membrane-Free Electrolyser ("MFE"), is pleased to announce the submission of its first manufacturing and design licence documentation ("licence package") to Lisheen H2 Energy Park Limited, which trades under the name Hidrigin. This submission enables Hidrigin and its appointed manufacturing partner, Jones Engineering Manufacturing Limited ("Jones"), to initiate preparations for production of MFE220 electrolysers in Ireland under the existing 2GW licence agreement. The comprehensive licence package consists of: a process, mechanical, electrical and safety design package; a bill of materials with every part defined; and a 3D layout defined for the electrolyser and all sub-assemblies.
This marks a major commercial milestone for CPH2, activating its first manufacturing licensee and advancing its capital-light licensing model.
Under the 20-year licence, Hidrigin intends to deploy MFE220 electrolysers across its solar PV and wind projects in Ireland. With the submission of the licence pack, preparation activities are now underway by Hidrigin and Jones which include staff training, supplier engagement, and production facility planning. Production is scheduled to commence in Q4 2025, with the first units expected to be operational in 2026.
Jon Duffy, CEO of Clean Power Hydrogen commented:
"Activating our first licensee through the submission of this licence package to Hidrigin is a pivotal step in our commercialisation strategy. Our licensing model allows us to scale quickly and efficiently while leveraging the strengths of local partners. We are excited to support Hidrigin and Jones Engineering as they move towards production of the MFE220, and we look forward to further progress with our additional licensees during the course of 2025."
Eric Whelan, CEO of Hidrigin commented:
"Receiving the licence package from CPH2 is a major milestone in our mission to deliver green hydrogen. The technical depth and clarity of the materials give us full confidence as we begin preparations with our partners at Jones Engineering. We aim to commence production in Q4 2025 and deploy our first unit in 2026. This is the beginning of our ambition to link renewable energy with sustainable hydrogen production in Ireland and beyond."
