3DM Worldwide PLC27 May 2005 Draft Press Release 26 May 2005 3DM Worldwide plc ("3DM" or "the Company") Establishment of 3DM Nordic AS 3DM Worldwide plc (AIM:TDM), which has developed and is now exploiting apatented plastic polymer moulding process ('PIM process'), has today granted anon-exclusive licence to 3DM Nordic AS, a newly formed company based in Oslo,Norway. The licence has been granted for the use and development of certainbuilding products and materials as well as product delivery systems forretailers and logistics operators. 3DM will receive 10% royalty fees from products sold for the lifetime of thelicence, which will end when the patent for the PIM process has expired. 3DMwill receive a minimum royalty of US$250,000 per annum, in the first three yearsof the licence agreement, payable in single installments on the anniversary ofthe initial agreement regardless of the quantity of product sold. Under theterms of the agreement 3DM will also receive either US$250,000 or a 20% stake in3DM Nordic AS. The decision will be made within one month of the initialagreement and will be taken at the discretion of the Directors of 3DM Nordic AS. 3DM Nordic AS is a company that is independent of 3DM and has been formed inorder to exploit the PIM process in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia,Latvia and Lithuania. Mr Magnus B Lindseth, Chairman of 3DM Nordic is Chairmanof Sunflowers AS an investment company, Beneficio Capital AS a venture fund,TrigCom AS and Easy2connect AS. Magnus B Lindseth, said, "We believe the potential the PIM process offers willbecome increasingly significant as EU landfill legislation drives demand forrecycled goods. The ability to convert waste material into a commercial endproduct, which itself is recyclable, heralds a significant step forward. We havealready identified a number of key markets where there is a demand for productswhich our licence will allow us to supply. We are very much looking forward toexploit this further." Ken Brooks, Chairman of 3DM Worldwide plc, said: "3DM has reached a stage in itscorporate development where it has proven intellectual property and can nowdemonstrate this to potential licensees. Our decision to enter the Scandinavianmarket is the result of existing demand from these territories and we arealready well advanced with initial products. With so many potentialapplications for the PIM process, the Board has taken the strategic decision toseek licensees that would remove the capital cost and infrastructure that wouldbe required to penetrate overseas markets effectively if 3DM were to set upsubsidiary companies. We are extremely confident that our Norwegian partnerswill successfully take the 3DM process into Scandinavia." - Ends - For further information: 3DM Worldwide PLC Ken Brooks, Chairman Tel: +44 (0) 1993 779 [email protected] www.3dmworldwide.com Media enquiries: Abchurch Henry Harrison-Topham / Ariane Comstive Tel: +44 (0) 20 7398 [email protected] www.abchurch-group.com Notes to editors 3DM Worldwide plc is a leader in plastics technology intellectual property, andwas admitted to AIM in October 2002. 3DM acquired two plastics manufacturing processes in 2001: Powder ImpressionMoulding ("PIM") and 3-Dimensional Blow Moulding, the latter giving 3DM itsname. The PIM process allows the production of a strengthened plastic composite thathas the strength and other comparable properties of metal. It is a low pressuremoulding process suitable for the production of very large parts. There aremany varied applications in industry where there is a need for overall strengthand rigidity combined with weight savings. Significant capital and toolingsavings can be made, because the methodology of the process utilises anon-pressure method. There are many and varied potential PIM applications andit is ideal for those wishing to produce parts that may be large, light weightand durable. Specific applications include manufacturing of a wide range ofproducts in high volume global markets such as Building Products, Construction,Automotive, Marine, Aviation, and White Goods. 3DM's strategy with the PIM process is to offer this technology as analternative means of making large complex moulds, but also as a means ofreplacing alternative materials like metal or fibreglass. 3DM also believesthat the PIM process offers the potential for a significant rise in the use ofrecycled material to make a product which itself would be recyclable at the endof its useful life. The 3-Dimensional Blow Moulding process facilitates the manufacture of complexcomponents or component sub-assemblies of differing materials in a single mould. This reduces the number of parts in manufacturing, creating significant costsavings through diminished labour operations and attendant costs as well as areduction in the weight of cumulative parts. In addition, there is theopportunity to add non-plastic materials, and to vary the formula appropriate tocustomer requirements. Most of the exploratory work with this process has beenwith the automotive industry, where there is a constant need for more complexassemblies. This also applies to the medical industry, where similaropportunities exist, but with a wider spectrum of products.
