15th Dec 2006 07:58

Alexander Mining PLC15 December 2006 Alexander Mining plc 15 December 2006 Activities Update - Argentina • Encouraging initial exploration results from Arbol Solo copper property as part of Leon regional exploration programme • Drilling to start at Trinidad property • Emilio Roca appointed as Leon Mining Manager Matt Sutcliffe, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said: "I am pleased towelcome Emilio Roca to the company. He will compliment our first class projectteam of mining professionals as we finalise the feasibility study. Also, we aremost pleased with the initial channel sample results from Arbol Solo and lookforward to exploration commencing at our Trinidad silver property." Leon Regional Exploration Programme, Salta Province, NW Argentina As part of the Leon regional exploration programme, we are pleased to reportencouraging preliminary results from the Arbol Solo property, 23km due south ofLeon. Channel sampling, across the strike, of oxide material in the first twotrenches, located in two different structures approximately 1km apart, returnedthe following data to a standard acceptable for inclusion in any JORC coderesource calculation. El Chilcar - south zone: 32m (true width) at 0.42% copper and with a potentialstrike of 1,900m on an anticline structure. Nogal Solo - north zone: 21.7m (true width) at 0.49% copper and with a potentialstrike of 2,200m on a separate anticline structure. The mineralisation occurs in the sandstone unit below the limestones. Theoxidation zone is expected to continue to at least 100m depth. Currently, thelimestones in contact with the sandstones have not been investigated due to deepweathering and soil cover and thus this represents additional potential formineralisation. The company is preparing necessary reports to be submitted to the provisionalauthorities for road construction and permission to drill. Trinidad Property, Jujuy Province, NW Argentina An initial 1,000m core drilling programme at the Trinidad property is planned tostart on the 18th December, 2006. The Trinidad property lies in Jujuy Province approximately 260km northwest ofthe city of Salta. Access is by paved and gravel roads to the La Providenciasilver mine, a sediment-hosted epithermal silver deposit which was discovered in1969 and started production in 1987. The property covers two separateexploration licences situated to the north and north-east of La Providencia.Area 1 covers 1,200ha and lies 4km north of the mine. Area 2, which covers2,000ha, is 6km to the north-east of the mine. The Area 1 licence lies on the continuation of the graben that contains the LaProvidencia mineralisation. Indications from field work undertaken in theTrinidad area are that the lower conglomerate unit that is mineralised at themine could be present on Area 1 at shallow depths. Leon Mining Manager We are pleased to announce that Mr Emilio Roca (46), a fully qualifiedArgentinean mining engineer, has joined the company in Argentina as the LeonMining Manager. He has considerable practical operating experience in SouthAmerica, including senior positions with Barrick Gold and Compania MineraAguilar SA in Argentina, mine manager for Comsur SA in Bolivia and, mostrecently, as Director of Mining with Iberpotash SA in Spain.
