Kier signs GBP400m contract

Kier Group PLC07 February 2008 7th February 2008 Kier signs a £400m contract with Stoke-on-Trent City Council Kier has signed a contract with Stoke-on-Trent City Council to deliver a £400mjoint venture contract to carry out repairs and maintenance on the city's 20,000council-owned houses through a newly formed joint venture company, Kier Stoke,in which the council has taken a 20% share. The contract term is for ten yearswith an option to extend for a further five. Over 500 council employees have transferred to Kier Stoke. As well as theongoing repairs and maintenance of the city's 20,000-strong council house stockand municipal buildings, including the Town Hall in which the signing tookplace, Kier Stoke will be responsible for the completion of all works on thegovernment's Decent Homes programme.
