8 April 2009 FIRSTGROUP PLC STERLING BOND ISSUE

FirstGroup plc (`The Group') announces that it has today issued £350,000,000 8.750 per cent. bonds due 8 April 2021.

As announced on 31 March 2009, in line with the Group's strategy to extend its debt duration and reduce reliance on bank debt, the proceeds will be used to repay existing debt.
