ISG wins £50 million education project

ISG has been appointed as the preferred contractor on a landmark £50 million education project for Suffolk County Council to build the South West Ipswich and South Suffolk (SWISS) Sixth Form Centre, currently subject to planning permission. The building is due to commence early in the New Year, with completion scheduled for Summer 2010.

ISG’s appointment comes on the back of four significant UK education projects that have been secured by the company in the last six months with a combined value of almost £80 million; Gateway College in Leicester (£20 million), St John’s School in Marlborough (£18 million), St Brendan’s College in Bristol (£13 million) and preferred contractor for Sir John Deane’s College in Cheshire (£26 million).

David Lawther, Chief Executive of ISG, said:

"Education is an important and growing sector for ISG. We have focused on it as part of our diversification strategy into non-cyclical earnings streams. These wins verify our ability to be able to compete effectively and profitably in a sector worth around £7 billion a year."
