Investment in Rasmala Global Sukuk Fund
European Islamic Investment Bank plc ("EIIB") announces that it has invested $25m in the Rasmala Global Sukuk Fund (the "Fund"), an open-ended Sharia'a compliant Investment Fund incorporated in the Cayman Islands.
The Fund is structured for Sharia'a compliant investors who value capital preservation whilst benefitting from regular and sustainable dividend distributions. The Fund will be invested according to conservative investment guidelines, ensuring that the Fund remains low risk, well diversified and provides capital stability.
The Fund will be dynamically managed and expects to make semi-annual distributions of accumulated profit in July and January of each year, while at the same time providing investors with easy access to their money through a weekly redemption window. The Fund will be open-ended and denominated in USD.
The Fund will be managed by Rasmala Investment Bank limited, a subsidiary of EIIB and a leading Investment Manager operating in the Middle East and North Africa. Rasmala has one of the most experienced investment teams in the MENA region, with an outstanding track record of investment success in the management of fixed income, equity, and money market investment funds, as well as Sharia'a compliant investment strategies. The firm manages approximately $600 million and has a regulated presence in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman and Egypt.
The Fund will be seeded with a $25 million cash investment by EIIB and will be marketed primarily in the Middle East and North Africa region but also to international clients on a selective basis. EIIB's investment will be funded from existing resources and there will be no change to the gross assets of EIIB.
