Interruption of operations at Columbus

May 1, 2011 - OAO Severstal ('Severstal') (LSE: SVST; RTS: CHMF) makes a statement that as a result of the severe storm, electrical power was interrupted at our Columbus plant in Mississippi. Back-up power permitted orderly shut-down of operations. All employees are safe. There was no storm damage to the building or equipment. Recently minimal power supply has been restored to run some finishing operations, but not to the extent for the whole plant to restart yet. We will update in due course as the situation develops and we have more certainty on timing of restart.
