INCIDENT AT MECAR SPRL

Chemring Group PLC ("Chemring" or "the Company") confirms that at 8:10am on Tuesday 7th September 2010 a fire started in the large calibre ammunition assembly building at its newly acquired Mecar SPRL facility, located near Nivelles in Belgium.

The site was rapidly evacuated and the emergency services called in to deal with the fire. No injuries occurred as a result of this incident.

Chemring has launched a full and immediate investigation into the cause of the incident which is not expected to have any material impact on the Company's 2010 full year results.
