Hope & Gorob Approval of an Environmental Clearance Certificate
Bezant Resources ("Bezant" or the "Company") is pleased to inform shareholders that it has come to its attention that the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Namibia has reported on the Ministry's official website the approval of an Environmental Clearance Certificate ("ECC") No: 240130002744 under Section 32 of the Environmental Management Act, 2007 for the Hope & Gorob Project, Namibia. The Company anticipates that it will in due course be notified via formal written confirmation at which time the Company is advised that granting can be treated as official.
The ECC is the critical step that activates the official issuing of the mining licence previously approved by the Ministry of Mines and Energy. Customary project management and ownership conditions will now be followed as the Company progresses towards completion of financing and commencement of mine construction.
Colin Bird, Executive Chairman of Bezant, commented "The approval of the ECC is an important milestone in the development of the Hope & Gorob Project. We look forward to providing further updates as we move towards project development."
Licensing
On 16th October 2024 Bezant announced that it had received from the Mining Commissioner of the Ministry of Mines and Energy a Notification of Preparedness to Grant a Mining Licence (No. 246) (the "Mining Licence") for the Hope & Gorob copper - gold mining project.
On 15th November 2024, the Company confirmed that it had submitted a written acceptance of the Terms and Conditions attached to the Mining Licence offered on 16th October 2024 which was done under section 48(4) of the Minerals (Prospecting and Mining) Act of 1992. On 25th October 2024 the Ministry of Mines and Energy acknowledged acceptance by the Company of the offer of a conditional 15-year Mining Licence and agreement by the Company subject to the customary Project Management and Ownership conditions. These include a requirement for an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism before the physical Mining Licence is issued.
The Ministry of Environment and Tourism has approved the Hope & Gorob copper - gold mining project an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) under Section 32 of the Environmental Management Act, 2007. This follows Government approval of the Social and Environmental Impact Assessment (SEIA) and the Environmental Management Plan for the project, the latter being the guidebook to operating methods and standards that will ensure environmental protection for the duration.
