AMEC PLC04 January 2007 AMEC plc 4 January 2007 Pursuant to our obligations under the Listing Rules, we hereby advise you thatwe have today received a notification from Goldman Sachs International advisingthat as at close of business on 2 January 2007, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc wasinterested in a total of 12,359,974 shares, which represents 3.70% of the issuedshare capital of AMEC plc. The notification states that the interest in 9,109,974 of these shares arosefrom a beneficial interest held by Goldman Sachs International, a wholly-owneddirect subsidiary of GS Inc. The interest in 3,250,000 shares arose from theinterest held by Goldman Sachs & Co, a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc,acting as custodian for its customers.
