Balfour Beatty plc ("the Company") received notice today from Citibank, N.A. London Branch, on behalf of Standard Life Investments Limited ("Standard Life") that Standard Life now hold 48,104,051 ordinary shares in the Company, representing 7.02% of the total voting rights of the Company.

Of the 48,104,051 ordinary shares, the Company has been advised that 29,389,005 (4.29%) comprise a direct interest in the Company's total voting rights and that 18,715,046 (2.73%) comprise an indirect interest in the Company's total voting rights.
