- Notification of Major Interest in Shares
The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc.
On 22 May 2008, the Company received notification from The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. ("GS Inc") (under the obligations imposed by Section DTR5 of the FSA's Disclosure & Transparency Rules) that, as at 20 May 2008, GS Inc had a notifiable interest in the voting rights attached to 42,964,287 Ordinary 13 8/9p shares representing 11.00% of the total voting rights in The Rank Group Plc.

Indirect Interest (i.e. as custodian for its customers):
The interest in 42,964,287 shares (11.0% of the Company's total voting rights) arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs & Co., a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc, acting as custodian for its customers. These shares are, or will be, registered in the name of Goldman Sachs Securities (Nominees), Limited.
