BTG PLC16 February 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BTG plc: NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTEREST IN SHARES BTG plc (LSE: BGC) has today received notification (by fax dated 16 February 2005) pursuant to Section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 that, following the purchase of 250,000 Ordinary Shares on 15th February 2005, INVESCO Perpetual UK Investment Series (UK 1CVC) is the beneficial owner of 26,717,499 Ordinary 10p Shares in BTG plc, representing 18.10% of the issued share capital of BTG plc. The shares are registered in the name of Vidacos Nominees Limited. The notification was made by AMVESCAP as agent for the UK ICVC. For SAR purposes, the AMVESCAP Group of companies holds 43,528,368 Ordinary 10p Shares, representing 29.49% of the issued share capital of BTG plc.
