Gemfields Plc ("Gemfields" or "the Company", Ticker "GEM") received notification on 13 May 2011 from Matterhorn Investment Management LLP ("Matterhorn") that on 12 May 2011 Matterhorn sold 1,000,000 of the Company's ordinary 1p shares.

Following this transaction, Matterhorn has a notifiable interest in 12,488,649 of the Company's ordinary 1p shares, amounting to approximately 3.85% of the Company's issued share capital.
