Balfour Beatty plc ("the Company") received notice today from Citibank, N.A., on behalf of Standard Life Investments Limited ("Standard Life") that Standard Life now hold 54,071,872 50p Ordinary Shares in the Company ("Ordinary Shares"), representing 7.88% of the total voting rights of the Company.

Of the 54,071,872 Ordinary Shares, the Company has been advised that 30,621,583 (4.46%) comprise a direct interest in the Company's total voting rights and that 23,450,289 (3.42%) comprise an indirect interest in the Company's total voting rights.
