Morrison(Wm.)Supermarkets PLC30 October 2006 Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc October 30, 2006 We have received the following notification from Artisan Partners LimitedPartnership ----------------------------------------------------------- Artisan Partners We hereby notify you in fulfilment of the obligation of disclosure imposed bythe provisions of Sections 198 et seq., Part IV of the Companies Act (1985) (the"Act"), that: (a) As of October 23, 2006, Artisan Partners Limited Partnership, wasinterested in aggregate, for the purpose of the Act, in 79,298,369 ordinaryshares ("APLP shares") comprised in the relevant share capital, as defined insection 198(2) of the Act, of WM Morrison Supermarkets plc (the "Company"). Ofthe APLP Shares, Artisan International Fund was interested in 46,677,731ordinary shares ("Fund Shares"). (b) We believe that the Relevant Shares represented approximately 2.96%of the total issued share capital of the Company as of October 23, 2006. (c) So far as we are aware at the date of this notice, the registeredholders of the APLP Shares are as follows: Nominees Shares State Street Nominees Limited 55,112,682 Mellon Trust 12,009,664 Northern Trust Nominees Limited 7,034,707 Wells Fargo International 1,809,995 The Bank of New York Nominees Limited 993,049 CIBC Mellon 846,145 Investors Bank and Trust 814,075 Fifth Third 392,711 Chase Nominees Limited 285,341 Of the 55,112,682 shares held by the State Street Nominees Limited, 46,677,731are the Fund Shares. (d) In addition, Artisan Investment Corporation, Andrew A. Ziegler, andCarlene M. Ziegler, have a notifiable interest in the Relevant Shares by virtueof Section 203(3) of the Act; (e) So far as we are aware as at the date of this notice, none of theRelevant Shares comprise an interesting falling within Section 208(5) of theAct. (f) This notification is given in fulfilment of the obligations of eachof Artisan Partners Limited Partnership, Artisan Investment Corporation, AndrewA. Ziegler, Carlene M. Ziegler, and Artisan International fund under therequirements of the Act and their addresses are as stated at the foot of thisletter.
