Soco International PLC17 August 2005 SOCO International plc ("SOCO" or "the Company") HOLDING IN THE COMPANY The Company was notified on 16 August 2005 that Yunfiel SA transferred 141,056(0.19%) and 719,369 (0.99%) SOCO International plc ordinary shares of £0.20 each("Shares") to Upper Ground Limited for nil consideration on 22 July 2005 and 27July 2005 respectively. Mr Patrick Maugein, Chairman of the Company, beneficially owns 100% of the issued share capital of both Yunfiel SA and Upper Ground Limited. As a result, Mr Maugein's interest in the Company is unchanged and remains6,781,860 Shares, representing 9.34% of the issued share capital of the Company,and 365,867 warrants to acquire shares at £0.55 each ("Warrants"). This interestis held as follows: 860,425 Shares (1.18%) are owned by Upper Ground Limited, which is 100% beneficially owned by Mr Maugein; 40,652 Warrants are held by Yunfiel SA, which is 100% beneficially owned by Mr Maugein; 5,921,435 Shares (8.15%) and 325,215 Warrants are owned by Chemsa Limited, which is owned by a trust company whose potential ultimate beneficiary is the family of Mr Maugein.
