In accordance with Listing Rule 9.6.7R, Cable and Wireless plc ("the Company") announces that it was notified on 23 November 2006 that, as at 21 November 2006, pursuant to section 198 to 202 of the Companies Act 1985, Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Limited and Credit Suisse International (together the "Credit Suisse companies") had an interest in 79,799,883 Ordinary Shares of 25 pence each in the issued Ordinary Share capital of the Company.
This holding by the Credit Suisse companies represents 3.25% per cent of the issued Ordinary Share capital of the Company.
