Rank Group PLC28 April 2008 The Rank Group Plc - Notification of Major Interest in Shares The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. On 25 April 2008, the Company received notification from The Goldman SachsGroup, Inc. ("GS Inc") (under the obligations imposed by Section DTR5 of theFSA's Disclosure & Transparency Rules) that, as at 23 April 2008, GS Inc had anotifiable interest in the voting rights attached to 39,666,757 Ordinary 13 8/9pshares representing 10.16% of the total voting rights in The Rank Group Plc. Notes Indirect Interest (i.e. as custodian for its customers): a) The interest in 38,322,616 shares (9.813% of the Company's total votingrights) arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs & Co., a wholly-owneddirect subsidiary of GS Inc, acting as custodian for its customers. These sharesare, or will be, registered in the name of Goldman Sachs Securities (Nominees),Limited. Direct Interest (i.e. proprietary ownership): b) The interest in 1,344,141 shares (0.344% of the Company's total votingrights) arose from a beneficial interest held by Goldman Sachs International, awholly-owned indirect subsidiary of GS Inc.
