AMEC PLC10 January 2005 AMEC plc 10 January 2005 Pursuant to our obligations under the Listing Rules, we hereby advise you thatwe have received a notification from Goldman Sachs International dated 7 January2005 advising that as at close of business on 5 January 2005 The Goldman SachsGroup, Inc. of New York ('GS Inc') was interested, by attribution only, in atotal of 9,139,914 shares which represents 3.03% of the issued share capital ofAMEC plc. The notification states that the interest in these shares arose from abeneficial interest held by Goldman Sachs International, a wholly-owned indirectsubsidiary of GS Inc. Goldman Sachs had previously notified an interest of 9,125,667 (3.02%) shares on28 October 2004, which fell below 3% on 23 November 2004.
