Cairn Energy PLC26 June 2006 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 26 June 2006 Cairn Energy PLC ("Cairn") Notification of Shareholding - Companies Act 1985 ss.198-202 (as amended) On 22 June 2006, Cairn was notified by FMR Corp. and its direct and indirect subsidiaries and by Fidelity International Limited and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, both being non-beneficial holders, that they had an interest in 14,259,025 ordinary shares of 10 pence each in Cairn, representing 8.91% of Cairn's current issued ordinary share capital.
