Biofutures International plc19 June 2006 For Immediate Release 19 June 2006 Biofutures International plc Holding(s) in Company Biofutures International plc ("the Company") has received notification, dated 14June 2006, pursuant to section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 ("the Act") that asat close of business on 12 June 2006, The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. ("GS Inc.")was interested, by attribution only, in a total of 1,750,000 shares,representing approximately 5.29% of the issued share capital of the Company. Of these 1,950,000 shares: • The interest in 150,000 shares arose from a beneficial interest held by Goldman Sachs International, a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of GS Inc. These shares are, or will be registered at CREST in account CREPTEMP. • The interest in 1,600,000 shares arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs & Co., a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc, acting as custodian for its customers.
