Rank Group PLC06 February 2008 The Rank Group Plc - Notification of Major Interest in Shares The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. On 6 February 2008, the Company received notification, under the obligationsimposed by Section DTR5 of the FSA's Disclosure & Transparency Rules, fromGoldman Sachs International that, as at 4 February 2008, The Goldman SachsGroup, Inc. ("GS Inc") had a notifiable interest in the voting rights attachedto 20,030,405 Ordinary 13 8/9p shares representing 5.13% of the total votingrights in The Rank Group Plc. Notes: a) The interest in 19,794,834 shares arose from an interest held by Goldman,Sachs & Co., a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc, acting as custodian forits customers. These shares are, or will be, registered in the name of GoldmanSachs Securities (Nominees), Limited. b) The interest in 19,152 shares arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs &Co., a wholly-owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc, acting as discretionarymanager. These shares are, or will be, registered in the name of Goldman SachsSecurities (Nominees), Limited. c) The interest in 129,032 shares arose from a beneficial interest held byGoldman Sachs International, a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of GS Inc. Theseshares are, or will be, registered at CREST in account CREPTEMP. d) The interest in 87,387 shares arose from the interest held by Goldman SachsAsset Management, LP a wholly-owned subsidiary of GS Inc acting as discretionarymanger.
