Sanctuary Group PLC27 February 2006 27 February 2006 Sanctuary Group PLC Notification of Major interests in shares The Sanctuary Group plc ('the Company') The Company was notified on 24 February 2006 that as at the close of business on 22 February 2006 The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., ("GS Inc") was interested, by attribution only, in a total of 49,381,013 shares which represents 13.31% of the issued share capital of The Sanctuary Group plc. Of these 49,381,013 shares: Interest in 33,117,758 shares arose from a beneficial interest held by GoldmanSachs International, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of GS Inc. Interest in 670,000 shares arose from an interest held by Goldman, Sachs & Co,a wholly owned direct subsidiary of GS Inc. Interest in 15,593,255 shares arose from the interest held by subsidiariesof GS Inc acting as discretionary managers. Ends.
