Balfour Beatty plc ("the Company") received notice on 20 May 2008 from Legal & General Group Plc ("Legal & General") that Legal & General now hold 30,495,913 ordinary shares in the Company, representing 6.40% of the total voting rights of the Company.

Of the 30,495,913 ordinary shares, the Company has been advised that 27,437,773 (5.76%) comprise a direct interest in the Company's total voting rights and that 3,058,140 (0.64%) comprise an indirect interest in the Company's total voting rights.
